Coughin’ for Jesus

This past weekend Lyndsay served as Director for a Central Georgia Vida Nueva weekend. I served in the kitchen. It was a great weekend except for one thing: I got sick.

Every winter I seem to have a bout with bronchitis. It’s never anything too bad. I usually have one day of the ordeal in which I feel really bad. That is often then followed by about a week of feeling fine, but coughing and blowing my nose constantly. Well I thought I was getting off easy this year since I haven’t been sick at all. Then Sunday afternoon (as the weekend was drawing to a close) I began to feel like crap. Then the sneezing started. Monday morning I felt really bad and I was coughing. So after taking Monday off to recuperate I now feel fine, except that I am coughing my head off.

Now I have to work the boys’ Vida Nueva this weekend and I’m afraid I’m not going to be in the kitchen…I’m doing music…that means I’m singing. So either God’s got to take this cough away or I’m gonna be hacking through every single song this weekend.

Kevin had the idea of possibly making the cough work for me. He thought maybe I could write a song that used the cough and I could call it “Coughing for Jesus”. I of course pointed out the obvious problem with his plan: I could be misunderstood as singing “Coffin for Jesus”. I am just not much for heresy so I’m just going to leave that one alone (no offense, Kev). I’ll stick with praying that my cough will clear up by then.

“I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry.”
